Free WooCommerce plugin
Germany requires a cancellation button for subscriptions; since 19 June 2026 the whole EU also requires a withdrawal button. The plugin brings both to WooCommerce – with the statutory labels, e-mail confirmation and proof.
Guide: Cancellation button and withdrawal button: what online shops must implement in 2026 →
§ 01
01
If customers can sign up for subscriptions online, you need a clearly visible cancellation button and a confirmation page with “cancel now”.
Legal basis: § 312k(2) BGB
02
The confirmation page may only ask for data needed to identify the contract – no login, no customer account.
Legal basis: German Federal Court of Justice, 16.07.2026 – I ZR 200/25
03
Receipt of the cancellation must be confirmed immediately in text form – with content, date, time and the end of the contract.
Legal basis: § 312k(4) BGB
04
Since 19 June 2026: “withdraw from contract” and “confirm withdrawal” – for every shop, not only subscriptions.
Legal basis: Art. 11a Directive 2011/83/EU · § 356a BGB

§ 06
No, § 312k BGB applies to continuing contracts. The withdrawal button, however, is needed by every online shop selling to consumers in the EU.
No. The German Federal Court of Justice ruled on 16 July 2026 that cancellation must not depend on a login. Logged-in customers simply see their subscriptions pre-filled.
An ordinary cancellation takes effect at the end of the term. The plugin ends the subscription shortly before the next renewal, so no new period is charged.
No. Germanized has its own withdrawal button – the plugin’s then stays off until you deliberately switch it on.
